eckhardt-gramatté national music competition winner

twenty-year-old pianist claudia chan made her concert debut at the age of eleven playing mozart’s concerto in c major, k. 415 with he thirteen strings chamber orchestra, under the direction of jean-françois rivest.  the following year, she recorded chopin’s polonaise in g-sharp minor for tvontario’s musicmakers series.  since then, she has competed and performed successfully in national and international competitions, earning top prizes at the 33rd eckhardt-gramatté, the canadian music competition, the eastman international competition, the bosendorfer national competition, and the ontario registered music teachers association competition. she has performed in canada and europe for such distinguished pedagogues as leon fleisher, john o’connor, john perry, march durand, lee kum sing, and jean-paul sevilla and has appeared in solo and chamber recitals around canada.  she is currently completing her undergraduate studies with david louie and john perry as a dean’s scholarship student at the glenn gould school in toronto.  she is currently touring across canada, performing  the winning program of contemporary piano music from the eckhardt-gramatté music competition.
