postdoctoral position in the enhancing the prevention of injury & disability (epid)@work research institute

the epid@work research institute at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 in thunder bay, ontario, canada, invites highly qualified and motivated applicants to a postdoctoral fellow position available under the leadership of dr. vicki kristman. the institute is currently developing a large prospective cohort study on workplace and worker health in northwestern ontario. this study consists of both a quantitative and a qualitative component and will address the three main research areas of the institute: mental health in the workplace; equity, diversity, and inclusion; and knowledge mobilization and implementation. specifically, the fellow will work as a project coordinator for the study and is expected to undertake collaborative research in at least one of the main research areas, but some independent research is also possible. this is an excellent opportunity for new phd graduates to apply research methods (quantitative or qualitative), benefit from an active well-funded interdisciplinary research environment, and publish. the stipend is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. opportunities for the fellow to apply for independent funding will be available and encouraged. the resources and collaborators within the institute will be available to the postdoctoral fellow. a multiple-year appointment is dependent on satisfactory performance.

the epid@work research institute was established in 2018 to conduct high quality, transdisciplinary research in the areas of work-related injury and disability prevention with a particular focus on issues relevant to northwestern ontario. our goal is to bring together community and academia to conduct research together. in 2022, we officially became a member of ontario’s occupational health and safety system.

key accountabilities:

• develop and implement work plans for the cohort study as well as coordinate, oversee and execute study procedures and research protocols.
• apply for funding (award applications) to local, provincial, and/or national research agencies.

  • unrestricted dollars, to support the four pillars of the lakehead annual fund: scholarships, bursaries, athletics and student enhancement

  •  identified campaign priorities

qualifications

• post-secondary degree or diploma
• minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising in annual giving or major gifts
• experience in managing complex fundraising initiatives, including direct-mail, digital etc.
• experience in all aspects of the fund development process (identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship)
• demonstrated experience in fundraising, event coordination, and donor-centered relationship management
• demonstrated experience using customer relationship management systems, and a variety of word processing and database experience is required

under general supervision, reporting to the director, security services, the security guard performs duties for the purpose of preventing theft and vandalism, maintaining order, providing security for all university personnel, buildings and property, controlling traffic and parking, guiding 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and visitors, and undertaking special investigation duties as required. incumbents in this classification are subject to rotating shifts and day or night duty.

duties:

the associate security guard will be responsible for monitoring alarm panels for fires, intruders and equipment malfunctions and video feeds from various cameras on a continual basis in order to take appropriate action.  they will also answer telephone inquiries and follow up with the required information or response.  this includes answering the university emergency lines and initiating the appropriate action, which may require dispatching and relaying information to security guards, emergency first response team (efrt), and emergency services (police, ambulance, fire), as applicable. 

the associate security guard will support daily tasks for security services such as providing assistance and direction to visitors, staff and 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 ; receiving and accounting for monies paid for parking fines, locker rentals; entering data in various computer programs; maintaining university lost and found service; completing administrative tasks such as filing, shredding, stuffing envelopes, labelling, and issuing and receiving returned keys. as required, they will also complete and submit timely reports and administrative forms.

in addition, the associate security guard will perform security guard or other related duties, as assigned.

qualifications:

the successful applicant must possess a law and security administration or police foundations diploma, and/or post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education (minimum grade 12) and related experience.  as well must have a valid ontario private security & investigative services license; a valid driver’s license (class “g” minimum) and maintaining a driving record ensuring insurable status for the operation of university vehicles.  a valid first aid certificate is required. training in fire prevention would be an asset.

they must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills and have the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with emphasis on good human relations, courtesy, deportment and appearance.  the ability to handle all security matters in a trustworthy and confidential manner and knowledge of investigative techniques and/or experience in security would be considered an asset.
