what is safetalk?

safetalk is a 4-hour, in-person workshop to build skills in suicide prevention. participants will learn how to recognize and engage with someone thinking about suicide, overcome attitudes that act as barriers to help, talk openly about suicide and connect with intervention resources for further support.

through presentations, audiovisuals, small group discussion and scenario practice, you will learn a 4-step talk model and practical steps to help activate a suicide alert that connects people having thoughts of suicide with more specialized intervention care and relevant resources.

summerfest 2023 will occur in the courtyard outside the chancellor paterson library on tuesday, june 27 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. 

organized by the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 social committee, 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 international, lusu, and the office of indigenous initiatives, summerfest 2023 will be a multicultural celebration in honour of national indigenous peoples day, canadian multiculturalism day, and canada day. 

byoc – there will be limited seating available at nearby picnic tables, but please bring your own lawn chair if you want to sit!

available for purchase will be items from a barbecue organized by the outpost including multicultural dishes.

a variety of games, prizes, and multicultural events will keep you entertained!

attendees are welcome to wear their traditional/cultural attire.

we want to celebrate pride month! on this day student success centre, student health and wellness, lusu, and residence join forces to celebrate pride and to prepare everything needed to be part of the pride march and pride fest in thunder bay.

tie-dye shirts (with your own clothing) and buttonmaking to bring out your colours. freezies by lusu and sexual wellness information and supplies by student health and wellness, and more!

the outpost also has a barbeque in the courtyard to purchase food.

it is our pleasure to announce that cihr will be offering two ms teams q&a sessions to trainees, postdoctoral researchers and institution staff regarding award programs that are offered. we will start by providing a quick overview of our programs, and then spend the majority of the session answering participant questions.

we will email you the link to slido one week prior to the session to the email that you use to register (therefore it is important to register by the deadline). in this email, you will also receive a pdf presentation providing a comprehensive overview of our programs. we encourage you to read the pdf presentation slides before submitting your questions to slido.

you are invited to join 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 in a tipi raising on sunday, june 11.

in honour of national indigenous history month, luana harper-shirt & her family will be sharing tipi teachings and will be leading us in the raising of the tipi on the orillia campus. the tipi raising is in partnership with the office of indigenous initiatives and the social and community services division of the county of simcoe. registration is required.

in partnership with ams, 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 and the temerty centre for ai research and education, nosm u introduces ai-north, a project that focuses on understanding artificial intelligence in the context of northern ontario. through monthly meetings we are bringing together ai healthcare leaders, knowledge holders and those interested in the subject to discuss the role of ai healthcare in northern ontario through practice, policy, public health, education, equity, diversity and more. these conversations provide opportunities for dialogic discussion of artificial intelligence and discovery of the meaning of ai to the people of the region.
