dr. dufresne's book, the democracy of suffering: life on the edge of catastrophe, philosophy in the anthropocene was published with mcgill-queen's university press, september 2019. you may read about the book in a new interview with dufresne, "for the love of wisdom: climate change and the revenge of history", recently published at the los angeles review of books (larb).
the famous environmentalist, bill mckibben, writes that "this is a very fine book: philosophy perfectly attuned to our precise -- and unique -- moment, a moment when our species has suddenly become very big indeed."

our keynote speaker, dr. arshia khan, associate professor, swenson college of science and engineering at the university of minnesota, and her robot “pepper” will present on “robotics in dementia patient care”. the keynote presentation will include overall implications of robotic assistive technologies beyond dementia in terms of "bringing care home”, a presentation that will be open to the public.

the reimagining value action lab (rival) is pleased to welcome the campus community to our weekly decolonization reading group, which takes place every tuesday night in room 2002 of the paci building at 401 red river road.
this fall we are reading, together and out-loud, leanne betasamosake simpson's book, as we have always done: indigenous freedom through radical resistance. no experience is necessary and guests can come to all or some of the sessions. newcomers are always welcome. books are provided and there is no need to read ahead.
