sebastian belmar, mscf candidate, will discuss the effect of forest tent caterpillar (malacosoma disstria) outbreaks on the abundance of songbirds in ontario.outbreaks of forest tent caterpillar (malacosoma disstria) are a major disturbance of deciduous forest and they may represent a food-resource pulse for insectivorous bird species. however, it is unclear if the outbreaks influence the abundance of birds, as the forest tent caterpillar is generally considered an unpalatable. a study of the response of the abundance of forest birds to the outbreaks may provide insight into their ecology and identify any bird species
responsible for regulating forest tent caterpillar populations.

dr. katzman will discuss the neurobiology of the prefrontal cortex in relation to depression and adhd, the processes that lead to unremitted or treatment resistant depression (trd), and subsequent compromised quality of life and functional impairment.
dr. katzman will review how cognitive impairment and low hedonic tone act as predictors of trd and suggest the presence of adhd that drives the development of trd as a comorbid of source residual symptoms of depression and anxiety. this will then be understood in relation to the psychobiology of depression and adhd.

the gender equity centre and pride central will be running a student survivor support group every tuesday and thursday in the gender equity centre (sc 0020) from 5:30 pm to 7 pm starting october 29th and running until december 6th. any questions about the support group can be directed to gec@lusu.ca

join us for the 4th annual rock your mocs. opening prayer and teaching by the elder will kick off the event at 10:30 a.m. followed by the ogichidaa makwa singers. there will then be a feast as well as more songs from the drum group, a closing prayer by the elder, and a door prize draw.

wear your moccasins on campus throughout the day and join us for this exciting annual event presented and hosted by the department of aboriginal education and aboriginal cultural and support services.
