i have more than 20 years of clinical experience, primarily working with children and families in primary care settings. i continue to work as a nurse practitioner because i love clinical practice and it helps ensure my teaching and research activities are relevant and current.
my research interests focus on children’s health, patient engagement (pe/por) in research, and knowledge translation for parents, children, and families. my work reflects an intention to collaborate with parents and caregivers in health research to generate better clinical outcomes for children. i believe knowledge translation for patients and caregivers can promote empowerment and allow for informed decision-making, which can ultimately improve care.
i grew up in alberta and moved to thunder bay with my family in 2010. i love the amazing opportunities we have in northwestern ontario to be active outdoors. i enjoy running, skiing, swimming, biking, and reading a good book in a hammock.
