the scope of our research is the rational design, fabrication, and atomic-scale characterization of a range of low-dimensional nanomaterials with engineered chemical, physical, and electronic properties.
- on-surface synthesis of 1d and 2d polymers, covalent organic frameworks, metal-organic networks, organometallic structures, low-dimensional quantum materials
- self-assembled molecular networks
- templated low-dimensional catalysts and the corresponding reaction kinetics
- our uhv-based experimental (scanning probe microscopy, surface spectroscopy, and surface characterization) techniques include: scanning tunneling microscopy, atomic force microscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction.
- simulations of surface phenomena by theoretical calculations, using density functional theory, nudged elastic band, charge simulations, molecular dynamics.
we acknowledge the financial supports which we have received from the following funding agencies and programs: canada research chair program, nserc discovery grant, canada foundation for innovation - john r. evans leaders fund (cfi-jelf), tri-agency new frontiers in research fund-exploration, cfi - innovation fund (cfi - if); and compute canada for providing computational resources.
applicants with competitive gpa, and academic and research background in surface science, physical chemistry, soft condensed matter physics, or materials science are invited to apply to our group. if you are interested to join our group, please e-mail me your complete applications (c.v., transcripts, publications). we accept domestic (canadian and permanent resident) 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 to both msc (physics, chemistry, environmental engineering) and phd (chemistry and materials science) programs. for international applicants, due to the funding arrangement, we can offer full scholarship only to phd applicants (and not msc).
please note that only selected candidates will be contacted for interview.
