the physical, psychological, and spiritual determinants of emergency department and hospital use among terminally ill home care clients. the purpose of the study is to explore the physical, social, and spiritual determinants of emergency department and hospital use among terminally ill home care clients.
examining the institutional perspectives and challenges of lgbt seniors in long-term care. this project examines the institutional landscape of long-term care as it applies to lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender seniors. this includes an environmental scan to examine what policies are currently in place to care for lgbt seniors, training that is in place for staff and to identify some of their needs.
examining the lived experiences of long-term care residents who identify as (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) lgbt, in the context of the home’s institutional policies and staff beliefs and attitudes. a segment of the population that continues to be understudied is the lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (lgbt) community, leading to a generally poor understanding of this group and their needs. the purpose of this project is to examine sexuality and sexual expression among lgbt residents in long-term care from two perspectives: the organizational/institutional level and also that of the formal caregiver.
