with almost 15 years of work experience in the field of online education, instructional design, and faculty training i have discovered that my passion starts with the faculty/instructor/educator. more specifically, how we can engage as a community of practitioners to better realize the pedagogical approaches to using technology for learning and teaching in a variety of teaching and learning environments.
throughout my years as an instructional developer, i have acquired a keen interest in backward design, open education, humanizing online teaching and learning, alternative assessments, communities of inquiry for learning and collaborative inquiry for teaching.
connecting and collaborating with colleagues is extremely important to me. i have served as the distance and online learning community of practice executive member for the ontario council for university lifelong learning (ocull) i am the director of education/training technology specialists for the canadian network for innovation in education (cnie) board of directors and have been the cnie awards festival coordinator since 2017. i am an active participant of ecampus ontario and contact north initiatives and i regularly engage in activities offered by the society for teaching and learning in higher education’s (stlhe) educational developer caucus.
i hold a bachelor of arts (history and women’s studies) and will be completing my bachelor of education (b.ed, adult education) in december 2021. i am an avid supporter of continuous learning and i frequently participate in professional development activities to enhance my practice and broaden my instructional development experience.
i look forward to discussing your instructional development needs and meeting with you to assist in any way i can.
