research interests:

dr. bediwy’s current research stems from his doctoral dissertation combined with his previous professional experience as a research engineer. his vision is to amalgamate structural engineering and the application of smart materials to develop tools and devise solutions that make the infrastructures smarter and more resilient/sustainable. below are the main research topics:

  • smart materials and their structural applications
  • large-scale laboratory testing of concrete and steel structures
  • recycle/reuse industrial wastes for structural applications
  • improving the reliability of experimental data and understanding of combined degradation mechanisms of concrete and steel structures
