lakehead leader awards ceremonies were held with 26 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 in thunder bay and 14 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 in orillia receiving awards. award recipients were recognized for their achievements in one or more of the following categories: community engagement, diversity & inclusion, innovation, sustainability, academic excellence, and rising star. in addition, nine 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 (five in thunder bay and four in orillia) were recognized with a lakehead luminary award in recognition of achievements spanning multiple categories. congratulations to all of the award winners!

it's your move 100 hour challenge

the it's your move crew are running back our summer-long challenge to log 100 hours of physical activity but we've added a new wrinkle- not only will we be tracking your progress, we'll also be tracking which faculty or department is leading the way!

if 100 hours is too rich for your blood- don't worry we'll be celebrating those who hit 25, 50 and 75 hours over the course of the summer.

you are invited to wiigwasitig gitigaan ‘birch tree garden’ afternoons!

join us for gardening in the medicine wheel teaching garden and three sisters garden. gardening is a fun and relaxing activity that supports many facets of wellness including emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental wellbeing. it helps distract the mind, putting it into a quiet and relaxed state, while having a positive impact on mood and brain chemistry. please bring water, a hat and sunscreen. light refreshments will be provided. everyone is welcome.

this year's cmha mental health week is all about the healing power of compassion. drop in and join student health and wellness in making kindness bracelets! take a moment to make a kindness bracelet for yourself or someone you would like to send kindness to. resources about bringing love and kindness meditation into your bracelet-making will also be available. #compassionconnects 

 

academic integri-tea gathering

academic integri-tea is community of practice that provides a safe and collaborative space for faculty to talk about the common academic integrity issues they are experiencing in the classroom and share helpful tips with their peers. attendees are invited to make themselves a cup of tea (or coffee) and join with other instructors as we strive to positively influence the academic integrity culture at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 .

drop by simcoe hall to chat with student health and wellness and lusu about what gender-affirming care options are available at lakehead and in the community, and what is covered by your health and dental plan.

(or) safetalk

safetalk is a 4-hour, in-person workshop to build skills in suicide prevention. participants will learn how to recognize and engage with someone thinking about suicide, overcome attitudes that act as barriers to help, talk openly about suicide and connect with intervention resources for further support.

through presentations, audiovisuals, small group discussion and scenario practice, you will learn a 4-step talk model and practical steps to help activate a suicide alert that connects people having thoughts of suicide with more specialized intervention care and relevant resources.

supporting 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 in distress

as staff and faculty, you are often the first to recognize that a student is in distress so it is important that you feel equipped to identify these behaviours and also understand how you can help.  the supporting 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 in distress guide and accompanying workshop outline the various levels of distress and the resources you can provide for a student in each level of distress.  we will also cover available supports in various areas, both on and off-campus including counselling and wellness, academic services, disability services, legal and conduct, and community supports.

lakehead orillia celebrates achievements at 2023-24 athletic awards

april 5, 2024 – orillia, ont.

阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 ’s orillia campus celebrated a successful 2023-24 athletics season on thursday, april 4, handing out awards at the annual athletic awards banquet.

paige galbraith walked away with the female athlete of the year, with jonathan aronov claiming male athlete of the year. bethany foster received this year’s principal’s award for leadership in athletics.

“congratulations to all of the award winners, exceptional student athletes, and coaches on a successful season,” said drake aldred, coordinator of athletics and recreation. “the annual awards banquet is an opportunity to gather and highlight all of the hard work that goes into the season; your commitment to academics and athletics is remarkable and we look forward to witnessing your continued success as student-athletes.”

most valuable player and rookie of the year were also announced and presented to top athletes in each of the university’s sports teams: men’s and women’s hockey, dance, and men’s and women’s varsity indoor soccer.
