safetalk is a 4-hour, in-person workshop to build skills in suicide prevention. participants will learn how to recognize and engage with someone thinking about suicide, overcome attitudes that act as barriers to help, talk openly about suicide and connect with intervention resources for further support.
through presentations, audiovisuals, small group discussion and scenario practice, you will learn a 4-step talk model and practical steps to help activate a suicide alert that connects people having thoughts of suicide with more specialized intervention care and relevant resources.
the it's your move crew has a new fall challenge this semester! each week we'll post a new bingo card with physical activities and you'll try to complete a line. each line completed will equal an entry into a prize basket with lakehead gear.
join the lakehead thunderwolves team in raising awareness for suicide prevention and participate in the first-ever take it in strides run/walk at boulevard lake.
this event is to remember loved ones lost to suicide and support those battling with mental illness by offering a safe space to recognize that their community is here to help. proceeds will be donated to the canadian mental health association and children’s centre foundation.
participants can sign up for 3km walk, 5km or 10km.
join student health and wellness for live, counsellor-led mindful meditation sessions in our activity room. each session begins with a check-in, then a mindfulness practice is introduced and guided, followed by an opportunity to discuss any questions or insights.
no experience necessary – whether you are new to mindfulness or practice regularly, having the support of a group can help to strengthen your practice.

based on the children's book "have you filled your bucket today?" by carol mccloud, we will have a variety of activities and resources available to help you practice self-care and fill your cup. will will also have a lesson plan and resources available to help you cultivate an environment of kindness and "bucket filling" into your classroom.
