orillia — the ontario government is providing $2.56 million to support the continuing 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 -georgian college partnership in simcoe county. the partnership provides more postsecondary options in the region, including increased access to degree-level education, helping 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 gain the knowledge and hands-on training they need to get good jobs. details were announced today by jill dunlop, minister of colleges and universities at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 ’s orillia campus.

“collaborations like lakehead-georgian provide 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 with local opportunities to build the knowledge and skills they need to find meaningful jobs,” said minister dunlop. “investing in innovative learning opportunities for 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 is part of the government’s plan to build a skilled workforce that supports economic growth in the province.”

nearly 3,000 postsecondary 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 currently benefit from this program, where 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 can earn both a university degree and a college diploma in four years. programming is focused on meeting the changing needs of the local economy to prepare graduates with a mix of degree-level education and technical skills.

“since 2017, 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 and georgian college’s formal partnership has provided 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 from simcoe county and beyond with the opportunity to graduate from stem fields of study with the best degree-diploma learning experiences available,” said dr. moira mcpherson, president and vice-chancellor, 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 . “thanks to today’s ministry of colleges and universities’ announced investment, this unique joint-offering from our institutions will be able to continue — improving access to degree-level postsecondary programming that nurtures tomorrow’s job-ready workforce — for years to come.”

approximately 36 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 began their studies at georgian college's barrie campus in september as part of lakehead-georgian’s first classes. 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 embarked on a four-year journey in the first two lakehead-georgian combined programs: bachelor of engineering (electrical) with electrical engineering technology advanced diploma, and honours bachelor of arts and science – environmental sustainability (ecosystem management) degree with environmental technician diploma.

“i’ve always been a very hands-on person,” said bridget healy, a first-year engineering student. “i explored a number of other degree programs, but the university-college model at georgian really appealed to me. i liked the idea of having one-on-one interaction with the faculty and learning practical skills.” healy, who is from orillia, also loved the fact she can live at home and have a short commute to school.

lakehead-georgian programs allow 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 to complete a university degree and college credential in only four years, combining academic and applied learning to graduate job-ready.

“we routinely hear from industry that they are looking for graduates who have hands-on practical experience, in addition to a theoretical foundation that comes from a university education,” said dr. dean jobin-bevans, principal, orillia campus of 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 .

“under the innovative partnership that is lakehead-georgian, our 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 will experience the best of a university and college education. our goal is to provide a combination of applied and practical learning experiences that will be valued by employers. our engineering graduates will be job-ready, equipped with the theoretical and practical skills to allow them to hit the ground running.”

academic and service teams from lakehead and georgian continue to collaborate on a number of fronts, including the development of new programs for the years ahead.

阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 and georgian college have announced plans to develop a four-year degree in electrical engineering that they will deliver jointly in central ontario.

世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 will enrol in both institutions and graduate with a georgian advanced diploma and lakehead degree. graduates will be eligible to apply for a professional engineer (peng) designation.

the program was announced at georgian college’s barrie campus, yesterday, by georgian college president and ceo, dr. marylynn west-moynes, and 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 president and vice-chancellor, dr. brian stevenson.

this will be the first engineering degree of its kind to be offered in central ontario. pending all approvals, the program will begin in september 2015.

“georgian college and 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 share a commitment to addressing the postsecondary aspirations of people in simcoe county and central ontario,” said dr. west-moynes. “by working collaboratively, we will be able to give residents, for the first time, an opportunity to earn an engineering degree and an advanced diploma without having to leave the region. employers throughout our area will also benefit by having access to a larger pool of engineering professionals who can help meet the demands of today’s global economy.”

世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 will study concurrently at lakehead and georgian throughout their four years, taking classes at georgian’s university partnership centre on the barrie campus and lakehead’s orillia campus.

“georgian and lakehead share strong track records and established reputations in engineering and technology programs,” added west-moynes. “i am thrilled that degree 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 will soon be learning in our university-calibre, state-of-the-art labs on georgian’s barrie campus. this will be a marquee program in our one-of-a-kind university partnership centre.”

the agreement to pursue a joint electrical engineering degree results from ongoing discussions between lakehead and georgian, aimed at creating access to innovative programs to meet the needs of local communities and employers. just last week, in thunder bay, west-moynes and stevenson signed a memorandum of understanding to pursue joint international recruitment of 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 for select programs; to work together to develop new student pathways and programs for aboriginal learners; and to extend postsecondary learning opportunities using modern distance delivery modes.
