application details for media studies & music applicants

applicants who have applied to either the media studies or music program must also satisfy non-academic admission requirements. 

for media, film, & communications applicants: 

in addition to the general admission requirements and program-specific prerequisites for admission consideration, you are also required to complete a portfolio. the portfolio must successfully pass a review by the media studies selection committee.

requirements:

the portfolio must consist of 2 to 7 self-produced original works in one or more media, such as: creative writing, photography, video, film, music, soundscape, intermedia, visual art, sculpture, painting, web design, textile, graphic design, and cyberarts. the maximum size is 15 pages or 15 minutes. beginning and end of excerpts from larger works must be clearly indicated (e.g. page numbers or time codes). for works where multiple people have contributed, applicants should indicate the role they had in the creation of the work (e.g. director, cinematographer, composer, etc.). if you have questions about the portfolio, please contact the coordinator of media, film, and communications, dr. alice den otter, at adenotte@lakeheadu.ca.

deadline to submit the portfolio: may 1 preferred

 

for music applicants: 

in addition to the general admission requirements and program-specific prerequisites for admission consideration, applicants to the honours bachelor of music are required to successfully complete an audition

deadline to audition: june 1

auditions after the june 1 deadline will be considered in exceptional circumstances only.
