age-well nce is a national research network whose goal is to accelerate innovation in the field of technology and aging in order to improve the quality of life of older adults and caregivers and produce economic and social impact for the benefit of canadians and the global community.

 

we expect to offer the following awards in this 2019 call:

  • 3 master’s level awards at $10,000
  • 4 phd level awards at $15,000
  • 3 postdoctoral level awards at $20,000

 

we are also pleased to once again offer the michael f. harcourt policy fellowship to support one postdoctoral fellow from any discipline and training program that wishes to explore the policy dimensions of their work.

age-well nce and the translational research program, university of toronto are pleased to offer a co-funded master’s scholarship to an outstanding graduate student enrolled at the university of toronto who wishes to commence, pursue or sustain their research training or program in the technology and aging field in the translational research program in health science.

  • master’s level award at $10,000

 

successful candidates will also gain access to invaluable training and mentorship opportunities through the epic training program for highly qualified personnel (hqp).  age-well’s hqp program is designed to build and elevate the technology and aging sector in canada. it will train the next generation of researchers and professionals in this area and will drive the development of new knowledge, services and products for healthy aging.

a wenner-gren grantee may apply for the engaged anthropology grant ($5,000 maximum) upon completion of the final reporting requirements for the dissertation fieldwork or post-ph.d. research grant.

genomic applications partnership program (gapp)

how to apply: 

the genomic applications partnership program (gapp) funds downstream research and development (r&d) projects that address real world opportunities and challenges defined by “receptor” organizations such as industry, government, or not-for-profit entities. these organizations should be committed to commercializing or implementing the outcomes of the project.

projects are led by the receptor organization (canadian or international) but are active collaborations with a canadian academic researcher. these projects are co-funded by receptors and other stakeholders and must have the potential to generate significant social and/or economic benefits for canada.

the gapp aims to:

  • accelerate the application of canadian genomics-derived solutions from academia to real-world opportunities and challenges defined by industry, not-for-profit and public-sector receptors.
  • channel canada’s genomics capacity into sustainable innovations that benefit canadians.
  • enhance the value of canadian genomics technologies by de-risking and incentivizing follow-on investment from industry and other partners.
  • foster mutually beneficial collaboration and knowledge exchange between canadian academia and technology receptors.

call for faculty projects - deadline june 5, 2019, at 1 p.m. pt

the mitacs globalink research internship (gri) is now accepting faculty submissions for summer 2020. gri pairs faculty in canada with international undergrads for 12-week research projects from may to october.  

canadian faculty members who are interested in hosting exceptional international interns for a summer research internship can submit one or more project ideas to mitacs.  all disciplines are eligible.

 

from july-september, top-ranked senior undergrads from australia, brazil, china, france, germany, hong kong sar, india, mexico, tunisia, united kingdom, and ukraine apply and compete for internships.  matching with faculty members takes place from october-december 2019, and final decisions made in january 2020.  internships can take place from may-september 2020.

 

the internship is fully funded by mitacs, who provides:

 

  • travel and living expenses
  •  medical insurance
  • coordination with 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 ’s administrative offices to ensure a smooth arrival and registration process
  • selection of a globalink mentor to assist with tasks including picking up 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 from the airport, escorting them to their residences, organizing social events, and acting as an emergency contact, etc.
  • professional skills workshops
  • industry events, such as meetings with professors, government representatives, and business leaders

the cmhc housing research awards program provides recognition to world-class housing research. the awards support research teams so that they can expand their work and share their knowledge.

2019/20 species at risk stewardship program- call for proposals

how to apply: 

ontario is committed to protecting species at risk and their habitats. that’s why we are accepting applications for the 2019-2020 species at risk stewardship program which supports communities, organizations and other partners to implement on-the-ground activities that benefit species and their habitats.

 

applications must be received electronically by 3:00pm (est) on thursday, may 9, 2019.

 

the 2019/20 species at risk stewardship program guidelines and application form can be found by following the links on the ontario species at risk website: https://www.ontario.ca/environment-and-energy/species-risk-stewardship-fund. the guidelines and application form are also attached to this email. applicants are asked to carefully read the guidelines before completing and submitting an application. 

 

priorities have been identified for the 2019/20 funding year and are outlined within the guidelines. please review the priorities in detail. applications that do not address a 2019/20 priority will only be considered for funding after priority applications.

 

completed applications may be submitted via e-mail to sar.stewardship@ontario.ca. at this time, applications are being accepted for both the species at risk stewardship fund (sarsf) and the species at risk research fund for ontario (sarrfo) for the 2019-20 funding year only.

 

please note, if you are a current sarsf or sarrfo recipient and have a multi-year agreement with the province, funding has been confirmed for the 2019/2020 funding year meaning payments will be made subject to the terms and conditions of your agreement.

 

applicants are encouraged to contact species experts early in the planning process for advice on developing their project proposals. mecp staff can also assist applicants in determining whether an authorization under theendangered species act may be required via e-mail at sarontario@ontario.ca.
