insight development grants

how to apply: 

insight development grants are expected to respond to the objectives of the insight program.

insight development grants support research in its initial stages. the grants enable the development of new research questions, as well as experimentation with new methods, theoretical approaches and/or ideas. funding is provided for short-term research development projects of up to two years that are proposed by individuals or teams.

insight development grants foster research in its early stages, but are not intended to support large-scale initiatives. long-term support for research is offered through sshrc’s insight grants.

proposed projects may involve, but are not limited to, the following types of research activities:

  • case studies;
  • pilot initiatives; and
  • critical analyses of existing research.

projects may also involve national and international research collaboration, and the exploration of new ways of producing, structuring and mobilizing knowledge within and across disciplines and sectors.

within the insight development grant funding opportunity, funding is available for two distinct categories of scholars: emerging scholars and established scholars.

the 2019 future leaders in canadian brain research grants program aims to be transformative at a time when it is well recognized that there is a significant funding gap to support and retain our brightest early-career investigators, who are well positioned to make major contributions to canadian brain research. this competition is open to all new investigators, within five years of their first independent academic appointment, conducting research in the field of neuroscience (any discipline).

beef farmers of ontario call for research proposals

beef farmers of ontario is excited to announce a call for letters of intent (loi) for research projects that will enhance the sustainability of the beef industry in ontario. bfo is committing $200,000 per year for each of the next three years. following review of lois, selected initiatives will be asked for a full proposal. please note that projects must be completed by december 31, 2022.
 
the overarching goal of the bfo beef research program is to increase the development, adaptation, assessment, and easy adoption of on-farm technologies that help beef producers respond to changing demands, and to quantify and investigate emerging issues of importance to the ontario and broader canadian beef industry.

pogo seed funding competition now open

how to apply: 

pogo offers annual seed funding grants of up to $15,000 to facilitate or support feasibility studies, the development of preliminary data to enable applications to other granting agencies, or self-contained studies.

the deadline for registration is december 9, 2019 by 5:00pm. interested applicants should fill out the registration form by the deadline expressing their interest to submit a full application. applicants must provide the following information in the registration form:

  • project title
  • name and institution of the primary investigator
  • name of all co-investigators
  • a 250 word lay summary of the proposed project

the full application form will be sent to applicants once they have registered their intent to apply. the deadline for submitting the full application is january 24, 2020 by 5:00pm est. please note that applications must be received by the deadline.

since 2007, the weston family awards in northern research (previously the w. garfield weston awards in northern research) have provided unparalleled support to young scientists in canada pursuing research in canada’s north. funded by the w. garfield weston foundation, these annual awards are some of the most prestigious in the country for 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 pursuing a master’s degree, phd or postdoctoral fellowship. over 270 early-career researchers have been selected to receive an award since the program’s inception, forming a community of weston family northern scientists who are at the forefront of northern scholarship and who are helping shape a better future for canada and the world.

weston family award winners undertake research projects across a broad spectrum of fields and disciplines in the natural sciences, including studies of northern ecosystems, biodiversity, flora and fauna, meteorology, oceanography, glaciology, geography and environmental studies.
