2021 euripides²/penta joint call for proposals
the eureka clusters euripides2 and penta have launched a joint call for proposals for research, development, and innovation (r&d&i) projects related to electronic components and systems value chain.
penta is a eureka cluster with a mission to catalyze research, development, and innovation in areas of micro and nanoelectronics-enabled systems and applications.
euripides2, also a eureka cluster, focusses on smart electronic systems and smart systems integration from components to systems.
these clusters are transnational and industry‑driven research, development, and innovation programs that enable a global and knowledgeable community of large industries, small and medium-sized enterprises (smes), start‑ups, academia, and customer organizations to collaborate on funded projects that turn innovative ideas into new businesses, jobs, economic growth, and benefits for society.
open to:
- small and medium-sized enterprises
- large enterprises and industries*
- universities*
- research organizations*
- others*
*nrc irap funding is only available for eligible canadian smes. all other organizations need to secure alternative funding.

insight development grants
insight development grants are expected to respond to the objectives of the insight program.
insight development grants support research in its initial stages. the grants enable the development of new research questions, as well as experimentation with new methods, theoretical approaches and/or ideas. funding is provided for short-term research development projects of up to two years that are proposed by individuals or teams.
insight development grants foster research in its early stages, but are not intended to support large-scale initiatives. long-term support for research is offered through sshrc’s insight grants.
proposed projects can involve, but are not limited to, the following types of research activities:
- case studies
- pilot initiatives
- critical analyses of existing research
projects can also involve national and international research collaboration, and the exploration of new ways of producing, structuring and mobilizing knowledge within and across disciplines and sectors.
funding is available for two distinct categories of scholars:
- emerging scholars who will develop new research questions and/or approaches. such projects may build on and further the applicant’s (or team’s) graduate work and/or represent a continuation of their overall research trajectory.
- established scholars who will explore new research questions and/or approaches that are distinct from the applicant’s previous/ongoing research. research projects should be clearly delimited and in the early stages of the research process. insight development grant funding is not intended to support ongoing research for established scholars.
sshrc welcomes applications involving indigenous research, as well as those involving research-creation.
ohtn hiv endgame funding program call
ohtn has launched a new call for the hiv endgame funding program.
the ohtn will offer two types of award:
- game changer awards: investigator-driven awards that will build on the engagement of ontario’s hiv innovation community to generate game-changing knowledge, and pilot and scale up innovative interventions. this stream includes the breaking new ground award and the implementation science award.
- community based project and participatory evaluation awards: support for community-based agencies, their staff, and people living with hiv to undertake projects, needs assessments, quality improvements, and evaluation activities that help develop and modify effective programs, services, and policies or generate data to make the case for additional hiv inquiry relevant to ontario’s needs.
priorities
through a strategic planning process and stakeholder consultations, ohtn has identified seven priorities or key learning areas:
- effective prep scale-up in ontario
- population-focused prevention and health promotion
- hiv testing
- linkage, adherence, and retention in care
- clinical care standards and capacity
- integration of services
- mental health and well-being of people living with and at risk of hiv (including stigma reduction)
in addition, ohtn welcomes applications for project designed to implement and evaluation interventions that:
- promote equity, efficiency, and integration of hiv health and social services
- mitigate or remove structural barriers and promote equity of access to hiv services
- increase uptake of hiv testing and diagnosis, and prep
- address mental health needs of those with or at risk of hiv
