the royal-mach-gaensslen prize for mental health research
the annual national prize provides funding to outstanding rising star researchers who are affiliated with a canadian academic or clinical research institution in the field of mental health, to encourage them to continue to pursue their research interests. it recognizes those with a demonstrated track record in research with excellence in scientific rigor, innovative thinking, imagination and originality and a clear ability to work in partnership with other disciplines and/or research teams external to the institution with which they are affiliated.
the annual prize is funded by a generous donation from the mach-gaensslen foundation, building upon the wishes of its founders, mr. vaclav mach and dr. hanni gaensslen, to support mental health research. each year for ten years, $100,000 will be available to be awarded to one person or a research team of up to three persons per competition. the prize is awarded with the expectation that the recipient(s) will continue to demonstrate excellence in their field of work. if no appropriate candidate is found, the prize will be deferred for one year.

call for proposals
please kindly share this call for proposals (for a project with riverview health centre foundation in winnipeg) with your clients and champion profs in the field.
project overview:
to improve the quality of care to and lives of persons with advanced dementias, riverview health centre (rhc) will be renovating the units and surrounding grounds designated for residents with advanced alzheimer’s disease and other complex dementias.
this renovation offers a unique opportunity to determine the effect of the planned changes on the macro, meso and micro level. rhc invites multidisciplinary research proposals to examine the pre- and post-renovation impact on residents, their families, and staff providing care.
applicant eligibility:
submissions are requested from multidisciplinary teams of investigators, with at least three disciplines represented. each team member should relate how their research expertise contributes to the proposal. it is not necessary that applicant teams have worked together on previous investigations. at least one of the investigators must have an appointment within a university and access to a research ethics board. applications will be received from canadian investigators.
as riverview health centre is committed to the education of 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and their involvement in research, proposals should outline significant roles for graduate student and/or post-doctoral involvement; as such, proposals should be submitted with an intention of subsequent (or simultaneous) submission to mitacs (http://www.mitacs.ca/en/programs/accelerate).
proposal deadline:
proposals should be submitted as a single pdf to dr. john bond, advisor research and applied learning, riverview health centre (jbond@rhc.mb.ca) not later than may 31, 2016. oral presentations will be conducted in mid-june, 2016, and a final decision will be made, with initial release of funds, by july 1, 2016.

rolling open call for proposals
founded in 2015, biocanrx (biotherapeutics for cancer treatment) is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to improve outcomes for cancer patients by accelerating the development of cost-effective and curative biotherapies. biocanrx was awarded seed funding of $25 million from the federal government’s networks of centres of excellence (nce) program, and has attracted additional tens of millions from partners in all sectors of the economy.
biocanrx supports biotherapeutic development research through four research programs and a number of core facilities that are accessible to all members of the biocanrx network. three of the research programs (catalyst projects, enabling studies, clinical trials) are designed to reflect the translational focus of biocanrx, which organizes its investments into a pipeline-like structure common to the biotechnology industry. the fourth program (clinical, social, and economic impact program) funds research into issues of scientific methodology, clinical trial design, patient engagement, health economics and commercial viability of biocanrx biotherapeutic platforms and technologies. all research programs are targeted toward applicants who have already made substantial advances in their basic research programs and are now ready to work in collaborative, multidisciplinary, academic–industry teams to move their discoveries into the clinic in a rational, scientifically well-supported and highly disciplined fashion.
apply when you are ready
biocanrx is using a rolling, open call that allows research teams to submit proposals to any of our research programs at any time.

idea to innovation grants
the objective of the idea to innovation (i2i) grants is to accelerate the pre-competitive development of promising technology originating from the university and college sector and promote its transfer to a new or established canadian company. the i2i grants provide funding to college and university faculty members to support research and development projects with recognized technology transfer potential. this is achieved through defined phases by providing crucial assistance in the early stages of technology validation and market connection.
