knowledge to action grants
this knowledge to action grant has been created to encourage research projects that will close the gap between what is known from research and what is done with that knowledge in the health care community and public health practice. these grants are intended to provide funding for research projects that build on existing cancer research findings and aim to improve outcomes and experiences through knowledge translation (kt) for people and populations at risk, patients, their families and communities across the cancer trajectory e.g., to assist knowledge users (researchers, practitioners, policy makers, ccs program delivery staff and/or volunteers) in their awareness of knowledge or innovations and facilitating their use in health or healthcare system improvement.
prevention research grants
the goal of this grant program is to support and accelerate research and the application of new knowledge with imminent application potential relevant to cancer prevention in human populations. proposed projects must demonstrate a specific and defined potential for impact on cancer incidence, for example through prevention/risk reduction research, programs, and practice, including interventions, knowledge translation, best practices and health-related decision making at the individual, organizational and health system levels. applications are invited for social/psychosocial and behavioural science, health policy, population health, health promotion and health services research aimed at cancer prevention.
prevention programs will focus on research that reduces the risk of cancer. the canadian cancer society recognizes that in order to change the risk profile, prevention research can be accomplished anywhere along the research continuum from identifying factors that affect the risk of cancer at an individual or population level to interventions that lead to action to reduce established risk factors.
innovation to impact grants
innovation to impact grants (i2i) are intended to support the further development of successful findings based on the goals originally explored through a ccsri innovation grant. therefore, only investigators with a funded innovation grant are eligible for this program.
applicants are required to articulate specific achievements from the original innovation grant (i.e., significant new knowledge, publications, intellectual property, technology development, or relevant endpoints) and clearly describe and justify the progression to the new research proposed.
