call for proposals for three asian market-entry studies

how to apply:

the trade facilitation office canada (tfo canada) is collaborating with idrc to support small producers in some of the least developed countries who face constraints growing and providing employment opportunities.

the joint initiative seeks to empower asian small and medium-sized enterprises in the agro-food sector by strengthening their market research capacities, fostering peer exchange among exporters, and connecting them with canadian buyers.

the objective of the call for proposals is to select researchers or consultants who will prepare market-entry studies for cambodia, laos, and myanmar. the studies will identify exportable products and producers in agro-food sectors and rank them in order of export suitability for the canadian market.

researchers will also assess the potential of local agro-food sectors to generate positive socio-economic development, including quality employment, gender equality, and sustainable environmental practices. the reports will also provide specific market-entry strategies and recommendations for local producers.

an estimated 30 days of work is planned in each country over a period of three months. the final reports will be expected early october 2017. applicants may submit proposals for one or more countries involved in this initiative.

the deadline for applications is june 30, 2017, by midnight est.

applicants may submit proposals for one or more countries involved in this initiative. preference will be given to a team of two researchers: one based in north america with a knowledge of the canadian market and trade opportunities in the agro-food sector and one based in the target country/region with experience in international trade and understanding of export’s barriers and enablers for local agro-food producers.
