connection grants are expected to respond to the objectives of the connection program. they support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives. these events and activities represent opportunities to exchange knowledge and to engage on research issues of value to those participating. events and outreach activities funded by a connection grant may often serve as a first step toward more comprehensive and longer-term projects potentially eligible for funding through other sshrc funding opportunities listed in sshrc's funding search tool.

connection grants support workshops, colloquiums, conferences, forums, summer institutes, or other events or outreach activities that facilitate:

• disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary exchanges in the humanities and social sciences;
• scholarly exchanges between those working in the social sciences and humanities and those working in other research fields;
• intersectoral exchanges between academic researchers in the humanities and social sciences and researchers and practitioners from the public, private and/or not-for-profit sectors; and/or
• international research collaboration and scholarly exchanges with researchers, 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and non-academic partners from other countries.

visiting scholars and researchers in mathematics and related sciences make important contributions to the intellectual life of the fields institute. if you are not applying to participate in a thematic or focus program, you can apply for a visiting scholar stay at the fields institute. visitors are welcome to register for on-site courses and events, attend seminars and meet/collaborate with other visitors.

the northern research supplements (nrs) program has been established to augment and promote canadian university-based northern research and training. the main purpose of the northern research supplements program is to recognize the added costs unique to conducting research in the canadian north.

postdoctoral enrichment program (pdep) provides a total of $60,000 over three years to support the career development activities for underrepresented minority postdoctoral fellows in a degree-granting institution (an institution includes its affiliated graduate and medical schools, hospitals and research institutions) in the united states or canada whose training and professional development are guided by mentors committed to helping them advance to stellar careers in biomedical or medical research.

canadian frailty network (cfn) will co-fund a cid grant focused on studying innovative ways to improve care for older adults living with frailty.

proposals for this cid grant must:

• focus on older adults living with frailty.
• assess frailty using an appropriate published frailty assessment tool (e.g. clinical frailty scale, frailty index) appropriate for the care setting.
• directly address at least one of the citizen-identified research priorities established by cfn using the james lind alliance process.  click here for the top ten priorities.

focused translational team science award (fttsa) – preproposal due september 4, 2018

pis must be independent investigators at or above the level of associate professor (or equivalent) with experience in developing and running large-scale initiatives.

• co-investigators may be independent investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent).

·         preproposal is required; application submission is by invitation only.

·         support highly collaborative and translational team initiatives that would fundamentally advance the understanding and treatment of vision trauma. 

·         proposed research must focus on eye injury or visual dysfunction as related to a traumatic event.  examples of trauma include, but are not limited to:

o   blast, blunt, thermal or chemical trauma;

o   trauma caused by directed energy weapons such as laser, microwaves and particle beams;

o   ionizing radiation

·         supports a multifaceted, multidisciplinary and highly coherent investigation with 3-5 teams addressing complementary and synergistic questions that center around a specific trauma.  examples of questions include, but are not limited to:

o   elucidation of molecular, cellular, and biophysical mechanisms;

o   identification of biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets;

o   development and validation of therapeutic agents and/or devices;

o   development and validation of drug delivery platforms appropriate for said trauma;

o   development or improvement of clinically relevant models for said trauma;

o   design of protection to mitigate the impact of said trauma on eye and vision.

o   the proposal should spell out the goals of individual teams as well as describe the ways for the teams to cooperate and effectively share and utilize the newly acquired knowledge in moving the project forward.

·         may include a pilot clinical trial component that collects preliminary data to support the feasibility, rationale and design of subsequent clinical trials.

upon the concept of the founder of the matsumae international foundation (mif), “towards a greater understanding of japan and a lasting world peace”, mif has started the research fellowship program in 1980.

“2019 research fellowship program” has been released. the deadline of application is august 31st, 2018.

eligibility requirements:
applicants of non-japanese nationality; a doctorate degree; must be 49 years old or under;  not have been in japan previously; have firm positions and professions in their home nations; etc.
host institution in japan:
applicants are free to select host institutions (university research laboratories, national research institutions or the corresponding facilities of private industry)
fellowship details:
stipend for research and stay, insurance, air transportation (a round-trip air ticket to/from tokyo) and lump sum on arrival
period & number of fellowships:
for a period of from three to six months; the number of fellowships is about 20 persons each year.
