the human immunology research teams are expected to:

• generate new scientific knowledge that will advance our understanding of human immunology as it relates to autoimmune diseases, with appropriate consideration of sex-related mechanisms, in order to improve the health of canadians living with autoimmune diseases.
• leverage the standardization core by encouraging collaboration with the core and utilization of the core’s research methodologies where possible.
• develop and strengthen research capacity by providing training opportunities to the next generation of human immunology researchers in the field of autoimmune diseases.

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

• to support planning activities, partnership development and/or increasing understanding of the health research landscape that will contribute to the advancement of research consistent with the mandate of cihr; and/or;
• to support dissemination events/activities that focus on the communication of health research evidence to the appropriate researcher and/or knowledge user audience(s), tailoring the message and medium as appropriate.

the geroscience demonstration grants are expected to:

• accelerate, catalyze, and build capacity for research on the early prevention of chronic diseases in aging using a geroscience approach
• support the creation of new knowledge to improve our understanding of the relationship between mechanisms in the biological processes of aging and the development of one or several chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, arthritis, cardio-respiratory diseases)
• support research using a geroscience approach that could lead to potential clinical impacts.

the fy18 defense appropriation provides $125 million (m) to the department of defense psychological health/traumatic brain injury research program (ph/tbirp) to support critical ph- and tbi-related research and development efforts to benefit service members, veterans, and other beneficiaries of the military health system.  as directed by the office of the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, the defense health agency, j9 research and development directorate manages the defense health program (dhp) research, development, test, and evaluation (rdt&e) appropriation.  the managing agent for the anticipated program announcement/funding opportunity is the congressionally directed medical research programs (cdmrp) at the u.s. army medical research and materiel command (usamrmc).  the cdmrp provides ph/tbirp execution management support for dhp core research program areas, including the joint program committee 6/ combat casualty care research program (jpc-6/cccrp).  jpc-6/cccrp provides strategic oversight for the ph/tbi funds associated with this funding program announcement.  the defense health agency is working in collaboration with the u.s. department of veterans affairs (va) and other federal agencies on research efforts to improve the lives of service members and veterans affected by traumatic brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, and other mental health conditions.

mechanisms of recovery following isolated or cumulative tbi(s) in service member-relevant injuries:  clinical research in human subjects that measures physiologic responses to cognitive rehabilitation with the intent to better understand how rehabilitation remediates cognitive or sensorimotor deficits, and ultimately to optimize rehabilitation prescription.

ecological assessment:  investigation of outcome measures focused on military-specific tasks that inform return-to-duty/participation decisions following rehabilitation in patients with tbi. 

cognitive rehabilitation:  evaluation of rehabilitation intervention effectiveness in remediating cognitive impairments and functional limitations after tbi.

the dr. r. k. dewar medical research grant was established in 1987 by ms. helen dewar to honour the life and work of her brother dr. robert kerr dewar. dr. dewar had faith in the future and progress of medical science and had a keen interest in cutting edge research of his day. he was particularly interested in neuro-regeneration and molecular biology. when selecting r. k. dewar grants our selection committee looks for the following elements in successful proposals:

• addresses a small research project or marketing for a health care charity
• makes an impact on health care in thunder bay
• seeks to assist in the future progress of medicine.
• are organized and well written.

the fields institute is currently accepting proposals for the october 15, 2018 competition cycle.

deadlines

deadlines for general scientific activity proposal applications are february 15, june 15, and october 15 of each year. a lead time of at least nine (9) months is requested between the proposal application deadline and the date of the event. applications are reviewed after each deadline.

proposals requesting funding of up to $25,000 are considered by the institute's directorate and decisions are normally announced within six (6) weeks of each deadline. proposals requesting over $25,000 will be considered by the institute's scientific advisory panel (sap) and should be submitted by the february 15 and october 15 deadlines only, with decisions normally announced by early june or december of each year.

proposals for general scientific activities

general scientific activities (gsa) generally consist of a period of one day to one month of concentrated activity in topics of current research interest in the mathematical sciences and should include opportunities for the involvement of young scientists and graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 . a large number of general scientific activities are scheduled for each academic year. topics supported through general scientific activities are often newly emerging areas in the mathematical sciences in canada and add breadth to the range of research supported by the fields institute. the activities may be in the form of workshops, seminars, conferences and/or summer schools.

the gsa program is the principal method by which fields engages a wider community to input into its scientific programs and an important way for fields to stay connected to principal sponsoring and affiliate universities. our proposal mechanism was devised to invite these activities. the directorate, consulting with referees and members of the sap, makes decisions about support following a rigorous selection process. applicants may apply for financial and/or logistical support from fields. logistical support options are described here

the broad purpose of this fund is to encourage canadian academics to undertake projects of relevance to accounting academic or professional communities. the research under this program need not lead to publication in a scholarly journal, although it may lead to one or more such publications. the research project may result in a report that is both useful to practitioners and provides background in an area that could be the subject of further academic exploration.
