chs/novo nordisk canada psychosocial research program

how to apply: 

the chs/novo nordisk canada psychosocial research program was created to engage hemophilia program professionals/graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 from the allied health disciplines (ie. nursing, physiotherapy & social work) in research activities addressed to understanding the psychosocial impact of hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders and to improve the quality of life of persons and families whose lives are affected by these disorders.

the primary intent of this program is to offer one or two $20,000 research grants, to a maximum of $40,000 for one year.

depending upon the number and quality of applications, funding for more than two research grant could be offered within the allotted total budget stated above.

the major portion of each grant would be to cover the research time for the successful candidate(s), including the time for research assistants. a small amount can be devoted to project expenses.

multidisciplinary collaboration:
collaboration with multidisciplinary care providers and/or between two or more hemophilia centres is accepted and encouraged. collaboration efforts may include, for example, social work, physical therapy and genetics. it thus may be possible for a hemophilia centre team to jointly submit a cooperative research project. additionally, inter-regional applications will be considered.
 
applications and deadline:
a letter of intent should be submitted to the canadian hemophilia society by january 16, 2015. the letter, with a maximum of two pages, should identify the researcher, the organization and include a summary description of the intended area of research.

capacity development awards in prevention

how to apply: 

capacity development awards in prevention have been created to establish or maintain the career development of junior investigators in the area of cancer prevention/risk reduction research and community-based clinical research in cancer prevention by providing protected research time. applications are invited from researchers in the fields of social/psychosocial and behavioural science, health policy, population health, health promotion, health services, cancer etiology, health economics and genetics aimed at improving cancer prevention.

the goal of this program is to provide salary and research support during the early years of a developing career for cancer prevention researchers. the program is designed to support researchers whose work has the potential for high impact within the domain of prevention/risk reduction research.

applications must include the commitment of a supervisor/mentor who will work with the applicant over the term of the award.

prevention programs will focus on research that reduces the risk of cancer. the canadian cancer society recognizes that in order to change the risk profile, prevention research can be accomplished anywhere along the research continuum from identifying factors that increase the risk of cancer at an individual or population level to interventions that lead to action to reduce established risk factors.

priority areas identified by the society and/or the canadian cancer research alliance include, but are not limited to:

  • tobacco control

how to apply: 

for the purpose of this cfp, funding will be provided to successful applicants whose national project aims to support persons with disabilities (see definition below) in preparing for, obtaining and maintaining employment or becoming self-employed, thereby increasing their economic participation and independence.

for the purpose of this cfp, persons with disabilities are defined as:

individuals who self-identify as having a permanent physical or mental disability that restricts his or her ability to perform daily activities.

for the purpose of this cfp, national projects are defined as:

projects with activities delivered in three (3) or more provinces or territories.

each of the following requirements must be met in order for projects to be considered eligible for funding:

  • the project must be national in scope;
  • the project must aim to support persons with disabilities in preparing for, obtaining and maintaining employment or becoming self-employed, thereby increasing their economic participation and independence;
  • the duration of projects must be to a maximum of (3) years;
  • the total amount of funding requested from employment and social development canada (esdc) must not exceed $10,000,000;
  • a project involving participants must have a minimum 60% expected success rate of participants being employed or having returned to or stayed in school at the end of the project (furthermore, target results should reflect an expectation that the majority of successful participants will find employment after the activity);
  • contributions equal to or greater than 20% of the total eligible cost of the project must be provided through sources other than the federal government (which can include the applicant’s own organization). both cash and in-kind contributions by the applicant organization or funding partner(s) will be accepted as leveraged funding.

organizations can only submit one application under this cfp. therefore, if an organization submits more than one, only the first application received will be considered.

grow call for proposals: effects of patterns of growth on women’s economic empowerment

in partnership with the united kingdom’s department for international development (dfid) and the william and flora hewlett foundation, the international development research centre is pleased to announce a call for research proposals concerning the growth and economic opportunities for women (grow) program on the effect of specific patterns of growth on women’s economic empowerment.
 

online applications can be submitted in either english or french.

  • incomplete and/or late submissions will not be eligible.
  • un, donor, and multilateral organizations are not eligible to apply.
  • applications from individual persons will not be accepted.
  • research focused on a single country or economic context will not be accepted.
  • applications led by principal investigators who are already leads on any other grow funded project will not be accepted.
  • research organizations located or planning to conduct research in the following countries are not eligible for research grants as lead institutions: cape verde, comoros, equatorial guinea, mauritius, sao tome and principe, seychelles, and somalia.
  • research consortia comprised of multiple institutional partners may apply; however, one partner must be designated as the lead institution. the lead institutions should submit the application to idrc on behalf of the consortium.
  • research under this call is not restricted to low-income countries; however, all research must be relevant and provide lessons for low-income countries.
  • more than one application may be submitted per institution if projects are led by different principal investigators.
  • proposed projects are to be undertaken/led by a research-oriented institution with legal corporate registration.
  • microeconomic studies on the barriers to women’s economic empowerment will not be accepted.
  • preference will be given to applications that:
    • are led by southern institutions, or showcase collaboration with southern partners;
    • propose a set of projects covering a wide spectrum of the broader research questions described in the call document;
    • analyze policies that can enhance positive impacts of growth patterns on women’s economic empowerment.
project duration: the project duration cannot exceed 24 months, including all research activities and final reporting.
 
budget total and apportionment: through this call a single consortium is expected to undertake six to eight (6-8) projects within a total budget of up to ca$2 million. there is scope for funding one to two (1-2) individual research projects of under ca$300,000 if the proposed research is on a priority area.

scope: this call aims to investigate the effect that specific patterns of growth have on women’s economic empowerment. research also aims to determine which public policies and interventions can ensure that the positive effects of growth on women’s empowerment are enhanced and the negative effects minimized.

2015-2016 cpsi research competition

the canadian patient safety institute, accreditation canada, healthcarecan  and the canadian home care association, are pleased to announce their joint call for proposals for a small-scale study related to the transitions at the acute care/home care interface.

topic to be addressed: the research we commission will help improve the safety for complex frail elderly patients transitioning from the hospital to their own home.  more specifically, the research will recommend innovative strategies and/or tools to help the patient, their family caregiver(s), and health care team work together  to ensure the patient has the information required – for example, about their medication, potential risks such as falls or infections, clinical care, supportive services – to safely manage their care once they are discharged from hospital and return home.

the funding partners will offer $50,000 to one research team this fiscal year (march 31, 2015 – march 31, 2016). this opportunity is open to researchers in disciplines both from within and outside of health sciences who have a demonstrated interest in patient safety. applicants must hold a phd (in any field), or md, or a masters in a health science field, and be associated with a canadian university or not-for-profit organization that can accept and administer the funding on their behalf.

how to apply: 

partnership grants provide support for new and existing formal partnerships over four to seven years to advance research, research training and/or knowledge mobilization in the social sciences and humanities through mutual co-operation and sharing of intellectual leadership, as well as through resources as evidenced by cash and/or in-kind contributions.

formal partnership is a bilateral or multilateral formal collaboration agreement between an applicant and one or more partner organizations, of which at least one must be a canadian postsecondary institution and at least one must be different from the institution or organization that will administer the grant funds. partnerships may be between academic institutions, or between one or more academic institutions and one or more non-academic partner organizations. these partner organizations agree and commit to work collaboratively to achieve shared goals for mutual benefit. partner organizations must provide evidence attesting to the commitment that has been agreed upon. for more information, see the definitions for formal partnership and partner organization.

the krescent program new investigator award is awarded to individuals who have clearly demonstrated excellence during their pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training in kidney disease. the award provides salary support for up to three years of the faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor or its equivalent at a canadian university.
