the cadieux-léger fellowship
the ideal candidate will:
- be available for a minimum of nine months between september 2015 and august 2016;
- be working towards a phd on a topic of relevance to canada's foreign policy priorities;
- be recognized as having full-time student status by the academic institution in which they are presently enrolled and maintain this status during the whole fellowship period. part-time 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 working on their thesis or recognized by the academic institution in which they are presently enrolled as having a disability will also be considered;
- conform to the eligibility criteria of the research affiliate program.
the cadieux-léger fellowship, now in its 23rd year, provides direct experience in a policy research environment focused on the diverse challenges facing canadian foreign policy. the cadieux-léger fellow is integrated in the foreign policy research division at dfatd as a full-fledged analyst.
the fellow's work includes some research related to priority topics, writing short papers, contributing to the operational policy requirements, including by networking with internal and external experts and contributing to policy working groups.
while at dfatd, the fellow is expected to advance canadian foreign policy and the foreign policy research division's research agenda, which includes themes such as:
- evolving global governance: including the management of complex crises, the role of non-state actors, urbanization and the role of cities, and the future of diplomacy;
- global threats, including terrorism;
- strategic partnerships: including with asia, the united states and mexico;
- technology and foreign policy: including the internet economy, implications of emerging technologies, and innovation diplomacy.
we welcome proposals in areas beyond these themes which have clear relevance to canadian foreign policy priorities, such as economic prosperity and international security. recent examples of past research topics include: natural resources, science diplomacy, religion and human rights, the future of russia, state capitalism, and prospects for africa. the relevance and quality of the research proposal is an important factor in the selection process.
