how to apply: 

the climate change and emissions management corporation (ccemc) and sustainable development technology canada (sdtc) are offering up to $40 million to canadian innovators producing energy efficiency and conservation; carbon dioxide utilization, methane reduction, or cleaner energy production and usage projects. ccemc and sdtc have had great success together funding these types of projects in the past and this is the first time the two organizations are offering an opportunity to access funding from both through a single application process.

our joint process offers applicants a streamlined, harmonized model with one window for access to two pools of money. collectively, there is $40 million available, with a maximum of $10 million per project. the matching funds available here (up to 66.7%) are more than applicants could get through either the sdtc or ccemc processes individually.

eligible projects:

·       advancing pre-commercial technology for ghg reduction with a current technology readiness level from 4-7, and includes prototype development, field pilots, and commercial demonstration projects.

·       led by applicants incorporated and operating in canada with fewer than 500 employees and less than $50 million in annual gross revenue.

·       have a maximum project length of four years.

·       can demonstrate anywhere in canada but technology must be applicable and well suited for deployment in alberta.

·       meet a consortium requirement of applicant and at least one contractual non-related partner in the project. a consortium partner must provide cash and/or in-kind contributions.

natural resources canada’s (nrcan) - science and technology internship program (stip)

how to apply: 

are you (or do you know of) an organization, business, university or community college that could benefit from funding to support an internship in the area of natural sciences?

§   looking for practical experience to support your career development in the natural sciences?

the science and technology internship program (stip) provides funding to organizations, businesses and institutions to support youth in the natural sciences to gain relevant and meaningful work experience within their field of study.  since 1997, natural resources canada (nrcan) has been contributing to approximately 50 to 60 internships annually to assist youth find valuable work experience.

eligible employers (referred to as partners) can receive a contribution payment for up to 50% of the intern’s salary to a maximum of $13,200 per year.  partners are responsible for finding their own interns.

eligible interns include youth between the ages of 15 and 30 who are:

§   legally entitled to work in canada

§   not previous participants in an internship under the youth employment strategy

interns apply directly to employers and are employees of the partner.  approximately 80% of interns have found permanent employment immediately after their internship.

the medical sciences proof-of-principle (msc pop) program helps commercialize promising life sciences and medical technology intellectual property (ip) developed at ontario publicly funded academic research institutions (universities, colleges, and research hospitals). the goal is to deliver substantial and sustainable economic benefits to ontario (e.g. jobs, sales) through newly created ontario-based companies founded on this ip, or by licensing the ip to an existing ontario-based company for incremental growth opportunities. 

program objectives:

canada: als 2016

how to apply: 

amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (als) is a devastating neurodegenerative disorder characterized by rapid and progressive degeneration of upper and lower motor neurons, resulting in paralysis and death. there are currently 2,500-3,000 canadians living with als, and there is no cure or effective treatment. the goal of the canada: als 2016 program is to provide targeted support for outstanding translational research that accelerates the development of safe and effective therapies for als.

proposed projects may relate to any disease; however, the basis for selection will be on the potential impact of the project on als. applicants may submit projects that fall within the scope of the weston brain institute’s rapid response and/or transformational research programs. more information can be found below and in the program details.

2016 research priority setting process" request for proposals

how to apply: 
canadian frailty network (previously known as technology evaluation in the elderly network, tvn) is holding an open competition for a research priority setting process service contract to determine patient-centred research priorities relating to health care of frail older canadians. research priorities will be developed in a fair and transparent way, with equal input from the perspectives of frail elderly canadians and their family caregivers, and clinicians and allied health care professionals.
