community engagement visits: invitation to nserc webinar june 26

nserc is conducting a series of community engagement visits to provide researchers, 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and other stakeholders with an opportunity to learn more about some recent program and policy developments. these visits will also serve as a platform for the community to ask questions and seek more information from some of nserc's grants and scholarships experts.

key topics will include:

o          common cv & new research portal
o          harmonization of the canada graduate scholarships
o          five-year evaluation of the discovery grants program
o          changes to the post doctorate fellowships timelines
o          allocation of discovery grants budget among evaluation groups

in order to help faculty members submitting a form 180 (intent to apply for a discovery grant) in this year's competition make the transition to nserc's new common cv and research portal, the office of research services is offering a special workshop on june 10 in at3003 from 10-12.  andrew hacquoil, research grants officer, will provide an overview of the following:

1.  completing form 180 using the research portal.

2.  completing the nserc common cv.

3.  linking your common cv to form 180.

any questions/concerns that andrew is not able to answer at the workshop will be forwarded to nserc for answers.  faculty members interested in attending the workshop are asked to please send an e-mail to andrew hacquoil (ahacquo1@lakeheadu.ca) no later than june 3.

sshrc partnership programs enable exciting opportunities to expand research agendas and approaches. this workshop aims to explain the partnership grant and partnership development grant so that researchers are aware of how to prepare their applications.

excessive budgets and incomplete budget justifications can lead to a tossed out sshrc application. this workshop aims to explain some of the eligible/ineligible expenses in order to improve budget plans.

in recent times, sshrc and cihr have tightened up their definitions around what is (not) funded by their agencies. this workshop seeks to untangle some of this language and put forth some strategies for writing applications for the two councils.

sshrc includes humanities disciplines in its programs, and yet the application form might seem like a puzzle to researchers in the humanities. this workshop aims to provide guidance to researchers on how to complete sshrc applications, including knowledge mobilization strategies, specific to the humanities.

poster presentations are common in other fields and are growing in the social sciences and humanities. in this workshop, we get “footloose” and learn of how to create a poster presentation for research & innovation week and other events.

recently, sshrc announced that it will follow cihr’s lead and require all its applicants to conform to a common cv. this workshop aims to unravel some of mystery with this transition process and prepare
researchers for the new cv format.
