we are looking for a highly motivated individual with a solid research background in quantitative analyses to fill the role of research assistant / associate within the epid@work research institute (//www.hsbcwebinars.com/centre/epid). this position will involve working with a team of researchers focused on enhancing the prevention of injury and disability at work, including research projects in the areas of mental health in the workplace, musculoskeletal injuries, and populations of special interest.
the research assistant/associate will have the opportunity for active research, mentoring, and manuscript and grant writing. the primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to conduct statistical analyses for an ecological study linking survey study data from employers with a large administrative database. additional responsibilities include database management, quantitative data analysis for various projects, electronic survey construction, study coordination and supervision of personnel, report writing, academic presentations, and manuscript/grant preparations. the successful candidate may also be asked to assist with the collection, processing, analysis, and presentation of data from various ongoing research projects. duties may include identifying eligible participants, conducting interviews (telephone and face-to-face), conducting statistical analyses, and co-authoring reports, journal articles, and presentations. other responsibilities will include drafting submissions for research ethics boards, developing summaries of research findings for lay audiences, and conducting other duties as needed.
applicants must have completed a master’s or phd in a relevant discipline. a graduate degree in epidemiology or equivalent field with at least 2 years of practical and related research experience would be preferred. the successful candidate will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organizational and time management skills. experience working with and managing research study data is an asset. the remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications. continuing appointment is dependent on satisfactory performance.
this is a short-term full time position. the position is for a period of at least 18 months with the possibility of extension dependent on continued extramural funding.
