english/women's studies graduate student wins award
holly morgan, an ma student in english with a specialization in women's studies, was awarded a prize for best graduate student paper at the 12th annual conference of the south asian literary association in seattle on january 4-5, 2012. she received the award for her paper "slipping into the cracks: performances of gender and culture in shani mootoo's valmiki's daughter," based on her sshrc-funded research on culture, gender, and sexuality in south asian diasporic literature, under the supervision of dr. anna guttman.
