english master's graduate publishes second book

latasha schaller, an english masters graduate, has published her second book.
unburied is a collection of poems that i wrote during the spring of 2020, and follows similar themes and topics covered in trapped. the book went into print this past week, and i have now opened pre-orders from that first printing (which i will be receiving in a few weeks, and then will immediately dispatch to those who order).

new graduate specialization program now available

the department of english announces the collaborative graduate program with specialization in social justice studies
all 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 in the specialization will be required to complete english 5770 (advanced scholarly methods) and social justice 5030 (theories of social justice) and select one of the following streams:

coursework; research project; or creative project

new hba english transfer program from confederation college

the department of english is happy to announce our new transfer program. those who have completed the confederation college film production diploma, and have an overall average of 70% or higher, can be considered for admission to the hba english program and could complete their hba english in two years.

call for papers

we invite all undergraduate and graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 of english on both campuses to participate in the english student conference, held on april 6th, 2020.  世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 will present 7–8 page papers focused on all aspects of english studies, including:

  • literary texts
  • films and television
  • graphic novels and comics
  • new media (i.e. webcomics, instagram, blogs, etc.)
  • visual texts
  • cultural texts (i.e. architecture, fandom, ideas of “nature,” etc.)

to participate: please submit applications (which can be based on essays or seminars completed or being written for english classes) that include the following:

  1.  the title of your paper
  2.  an abstract describing your proposed paper (max. 300 words).

 applications should be sent to dhayes@lakeheadu.ca by monday, march 2nd, 2020.

the conference will be held in the telepresence rooms on both the orillia and thunder bay campuses.  lunch and refreshments will be provided. papers of 15 minutes will be delivered in panels of three or four, with question periods to follow.
