the article details experiences by jade, as a ta for tamara's forensic anthropology class, as well as student experiences in both tamara's forensic class and kathleen whitaker's human osteology class with the use of 3d models for virtual teaching of online classes during the pandemic, it also offers methodologies and reflections on the use of such technologies.

dr. martha dowsley and master's of environmental studies alumnus wills stolz recently published a chapter titled  berry harvesting among eastern arctic inuit women: an expression of feminine indigenous identity  in the book 'memory and landscape: indigenous responses to a changing north" (edited by kenneth l. pratt and scott a. heyes). the book has won both the scholarly and academic book of the year and book design awards from the alberta book publishing awards.

dr. sara halwas (university of manitoba) is joining the department of anthropology as a visiting researcher this month in order to learn about plant microfossil processing and identification methods. welcome sara!

in march 2023 our department hosted an equity, diversity, and inclusion (edi) workshop with
funding from the nserc edi institutional capacity-building grant. dr. lisa hodgetts
(associate professor of anthropology at western university and past president of the canadian
archaeological association) visited thunder bay and gave a seminar titled ‘towards justice in
research and teaching: remaking power relations in archaeology and beyond.’ later that
day, anthropology department faculty, grad 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 , technicians, and a contract lecturer
gathered to discuss the most pressing equity, diversity, and inclusion issues for our discipline and
department, and to brainstorm concrete steps towards justice in research, teaching, and service.

the anthropology department has an exciting array of courses that are available for registration in the 2023 spring/summer semester:

the department is pleased to announce that we will be offering an archaeological field school (anth 3801) between may 1 and 19, 2023. this course is worth 1 fce (full course equivalent) and is designed to provide 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 with the practical field skills required for employment in archaeology. training will take place on the thunder bay campus of 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 , and participants will excavate a cluster of ancient sites on a terrace of the mcintyre river. in addition to the course fee there is a $150 ancillary fee to cover the cost of consumables. for more information about this course please contact dr. matthew boyd (matthew.boyd@lakeheadu.ca).
