what is a known article?

a known article is an article that you have the citation information for. citation information may include:

  • the author
  • the title of the journal article 
  • the title of the journal that the article is published in
  • the date of publication

you do not have to have a complete citation to use known article search strategies.

searching omni for a known article

to search for a known article, begin by entering the title of the article into the omni search. putting the title of the article within quotation marks searches the title as a phrase.

this search was successful at bringing back the known article. to access the article, click on the title of the article in the results list and select an option under "view online".

if this search was not successful, try using the citation finder. you can access the finder by selecting "..." at the top of the page in omni, and then selecting "citation finder".

enter the article information that you know into the available fields in the citation finder, then click "submit"
