developing ecologically conscious macro-models embedded in gandhi’s educational philosophy for indian k12 schooling: a teacher’s handbook
chandorkar, suphala
the need for a transformative approach to environmental education has become more pressing as traditional teaching methods often fail to foster deep ecological understanding and sustainable behaviors among 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛
. this handbook was developed to address the disconnect between environmental knowledge and meaningful, action-oriented learning in indian k-12 education. drawing on gandhian educational philosophy, the specific objective of this work is to create immersive, nature-based instructional activities that cultivate ecological consciousness, ecological literacy, and a kinship with nature (ecophily).
this handbook not only emphasizes the importance of integrating nature-based pedagogy into the curriculum but also provides practical instructional activities and guidelines. thus, ensuring that nature becomes an active participant in the learning process, moving beyond being a mere backdrop to serving as a central element of experiential education. the handbook employs ecological macro-models, which are interactive, experiential representations of natural systems. these models engage 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛
directly, allowing them to experience and internalize ecological processes through embodied learning. the design of these activities aligns with the national education policy (nep 2020) of india and the national curriculum framework (ncf) of india, aiming to provide educators with practical tools that overcome challenges like fragmented integration of environmental education and a reliance on rote learning. this work concludes with guidelines and exemplars for incorporating ecological macro-models in the curriculum to foster lifelong environmental stewardship and holistic education.

integration and experiences of immigrants within canada
kattini, sarah
this portfolio was created with the goal of better understanding and closely
examining the various difficulties and barriers that newly landed immigrants face upon
entering canadian society. immigrants make up a large portion of canadian society, and yet
many changes need to be made within federal and provincial policies to create a more
equitable living experience for them. this portfolio is composed of three different parts: a
literature review, chapter book (with ai generated images), and a diverse literature guide. the
ai generated images were a choice that was not taken lightly, as i found struggle in creating
images using digital art softwares. my experience as a syrian-canadian, the daughter of
syrian immigrants, and the relative of syrian refugees, has influenced the creation of the
chapter book and diverse literature guide, as they mirror my own childhood desires and
experiences. i hope to have my diverse literature guide used throughout schools in canada as
a basis for teachers to reach for when they are unsure of how to include positive media
representation of diverse 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛
within their classroom. furthermore, i hope to have my
chapter book published, so that the many children within canada who come here not
knowing much english, can know that their experiences are valid. and even better, so that
their classmates who do know english are able to be more empathetic and understanding of
what it is like not to speak the main language of a country.

literature instruction: using a critical and social lens
lawlor, joshua
social change depends on the actions of the citizens of tomorrow. without creating
changes to the curriculum and to the perspectives from which we teach, the likelihood of
producing social change is lessened. the main objective of developing this resource guide is to
help educators to teach with a critical lens and encourage 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛
to think beyond the surface of
the texts they read. critical literacy addresses contemporary issues and challenges 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛
to
consider the perspectives and rights of various groups of people. the purpose is to understand
that texts portray different biases and perspectives and to gain perspective on others’ experiences
an example of this “is critical literacy perspective which, although rooted in language and
literacy education, has the potential for application across the school curriculum and in research
more broadly " (janks, 2013, p. 227). janks provides an excellent example of how this lens can
expand into other portions of the curriculum besides language arts. using theoretical
perspectives of social justice and critical literacy, this guide provides an outline of activities
spanning 5 to 10 weeks that could be adopted or expanded by teachers who are unfamiliar with
these two perspectives to support grade 5 and 6 teachers to begin to integrate critical literacy and
social justice into their classrooms in ways that are accessible to the interests of grade 5 and 6

awakening ontario educators to treaty stories: exploring the possibilities of disruptive treaty scripting as professional development
petitpas, denise
i need to tell you a story. my name is denise petitpas and i am a french-canadian,
ontario school teacher. specifically, i am franco-ontarian, and my surname petitpas, comes
from one of the first forty families to settle and establish the new france
colony in present-day nova scotia. i am also a descendant of marie-thérèze,
a mi’kmaw woman censused alongside my 7th great-grandfather claude
petitpas ii, the 30th family of the sauvages de mouscadoubet in 1708 acadia
(see appendix a) (petitpas, n.d). my family knows this genealogy and more
from colonial documents and missionary accounts that my distant relatives,
such as my 6th great-grandfather, bathélemy le sauvage, claude and mariethérèze’s son, had extensive knowledge of the land, its peoples, indigenous languages, along
with french and english. my ancestors served as interpreters and navigators to the new arrivals.
as darryl leroux’s research has shown (indigenousstudiesusask, 2015, 17:28), like many
french-canadians, i descend from a distant indigenous grandmother. and this is a story i used to
tell.
fast forward this story 400 years to today. after generations of exile, persecutions, and
inter-marriages (petitpas, n.d) out of indigeneity, only the french language and culture have
survived in me. through a series of complex “colonial happenings” (madden, 2019, p. 286), i
am not connected to the land (mi’kma’ki), the people (l’nu), or the language (mi’kmawi’simk)
of my distant ancestors. cree elder willie ermine (sturgeon lake first nation) is right; i am
poor, my memory has been erased, and i need an awakening (nccie, 2019, 3:05-4:25). [...]
