join us for week 3 of nnc for a traditional medicine walk with dr. peggy smith (miskwaanakwadook--red cloud woman).
did you know that indigenous initiatives maintains a garden on campus? the garden called gitigaan in ojibwe is a gathering space for people to share and learn about the significance of traditional medicines and to create an awareness of traditional knowledge. the original garden was planted in june 2010 and contained box planters located in each of the four directions. the new 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 gitigaan was built and planted in june 2017, following a ceremony conducted by elder ma-nee chacaby. we are honoured to have dr. smith join us as she shares her knowledge and we learn about the significance of traditional medicines. let's gather together in this beautiful space to expand our awareness of indigenous culture and learn about other areas on campus for self reflection and meditation with nature. tobacco will be provided, if you would like to make an offering for the garden. and, if you're keen, bring some gardening gloves and you can do some weeding and harvesting.
