on september 30th wear an orange shirt in the spirit of reconciliation and to honour residential school survivors and all those impacted by residential schools. 

orange shirt day is a day set aside to honour residential school survivors and all those impacted by residential schools.  in the spirit of reconciliation, everyone is asked to wear an orange shirt on this day.

the idea for this day came from phyllis (jack) webstad’s story of having her new orange shirt taken away from her on her first day of residential school. 

today it’s an opportunity for communities to come together to re-affirm their commitment to reconciliation.

阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 sweat lodge site

elder gene nowegejick, will be conducting a sweat lodge on thursday, september 26th, 2019 starting at 3:00 p.m. at the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 sweat lodge site. 

women should wear long skirts and a t-shirt. men should wear shorts. be sure to bring a towel. participants are encouraged to bring the elder a tobacco offering which is available at acss (uc1007). women who are on their moon time must not participate in the sweat lodge ceremony or handle ceremonial items.

elder beatrice twance-hynes, is a member of biigtigong nishnaabeg first nation. beatrice is a traditional women’s dancer who makes her own regalia. she is a grandmother pipe carrier, a sacred circle facilitator, songwriter, singer and drummer. she does teachings on the medicine wheel, the sacred medicines, and the seven sacred grandfathers and the hand drum.

阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 sweat lodge site

together, aboriginal initiatives and aboriginal cultural & support services extend a friendly, campus-wide invitation to the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 community to our annual fall harvest.  this orientation event is an opportunity to meet, engage, and connect with the local aboriginal community. 

all 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 , staff and faculty are invited to come out and experience aboriginal culture through teachings shared by our traditional elders.

fall harvest will be held on saturday, september 14^th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the sweat lodge site.

join the elders as they share hand-drum songs and teachings, sweat lodge teachings, traditional medicine teachings, and harvest medicines from gitigaan (garden) located at the sweat lodge site.  sample fresh pickerel, sturgeon, bannock, blueberries and various teas.  learn about the moccasin making process and much more!

this community event will gather people together in celebration of aboriginal culture and dance.  warm-ups will be held on friday, march 9^th from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. grand entry is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on saturday, march 10^th with a traditional feast being served at 5:00 p.m. and the powwow will wrap up at 10:00 p.m. for the day.  grand entry is set for 12:00 p.m. on sunday, march 11^th with the powwow ending at 5:00 p.m.

lunsa is a volunteer lusu club.  its goals are to promote the spirit of unity among aboriginal 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 through social, cultural, and recreational events in addition to promoting cultural awareness between club members and the greater 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 student population.

the annual powwow is lunsa’s signature event that showcases tremendous talent and entertainment, while reinforcing traditional aspects of aboriginal culture such as drumming, dancing, singing, and giving thanks. attendees can purchase traditional aboriginal merchandise from on-site vendors.

as part of aboriginal awareness week; aboriginal awareness centre, 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 student union and aboriginal initiatives presents aboriginal comedian ryan mcmahon. thursday, march 5th, 7pm to 10 pm in uc 1017 lecture theatre.

hailing from couchiching first nation, ryan mcmahon is an anishinabe/metis comdian, writer and actor based out of treaty #1 territory (winipeg, mb). armed with a degree in theatre and a graduate of the prestigious second city conservatory (toronto, on), ryan's story telling comdey style is fast paced, loose and irreverent.
