meet & greet ~ aboriginal student counsellor
aboriginal initiatives is pleased to announce and welcome janice battiston as the new aboriginal student counsellor.
janice is a band member of mishkeegogamang first nation with over 15 years of experience working with first nations, metis and inuit learners in post-secondary environments. in her role as aboriginal counsellor at confederation college she provided personal, career, and academic counselling services. as a teacher of aboriginal specific content across various college programs janice developed an appreciation for the challenges that exist for learners within the aboriginal-canadian context. having travelled to remote northern communities while employed with the northern nishnawbe education council, janice is aware that transitioning to post-secondary institutions is complex. janice is an alumni of 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 having obtained a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. she is also a certified life skills coach, and a member of the ontario native education counsellors association. it is a privilege and honour for her to walk alongside fnmi learners as they pursue and obtain their educational goals.
