mobilizing communities: some populations display complex social patterns that are the result of history. aboriginal youth display inter-generational trauma but usually receive symptom treatment. the circle of courage transforms the foundation conditions for native or any other youth. returning to traditional aboriginal ways of raising youth will restore youth to the heart and mindset that supported survival of indigenous peoples through many centuries.

the office of aboriginal initiatives in conjunction with aboriginal cultural & support services at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 is hosting our next elder & youth gathering on friday, june 19th, 2015 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. this event will be held at the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 sweat lodge site.
we are providing this opportunity for elders and youth to connect around the theme of reconciliation. as you may know, the truth & reconciliation commission (trc) of canada held its closing event in ottawa on may 31 to june 3, 2015 and as part of the follow-up, we are inviting youth to share their thoughts and ideas on actions for reconciliation. this will be a wonderful opportunity for youth to engage with elders to discuss what reconciliation looks like and why it's important to them.
we will begin the day in a circle, with a smudge and prayer, followed by introductions and an overview of reconciliation. youth and elders will discuss ideas on actions for reconciliation. following the circle, youth will have the opportunity to make a traditional craft.
by renewing conversations between elders and youth, we hope this enent will lead to outcomes that will highlight and celebrate who we are as the aboriginal community of thunder bay and showcase our resiliency.
