artist statementsituated in the indigenous search methodology of keeyoukaywin, this series embodies my “re-searching” (abolson, 2022) of a metis heritage erased by colonialism. these pieces are how i have come to know these ancestors, and a reflection of time spent with their stories, lifeways, and teachings through visual culture. it is reclamation and resistance.

. as an artist, teacher and researcher, she is involved in interdisciplinary research projects and currently lecturers in the faculty of education. her work seeks to decolonize data and knowledge in research, and to use the arts as a pathway to these aims.
