overview
the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 paleo-dna laboratory, established in 1996, is an academic laboratory offering external services through the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 centre for analytical services (lucas). our facility is in thunder bay, ontario, canada. we were one of the first canadian laboratories to develop and offer training in mitochondrial dna analysis techniques. the laboratory provides three functions: research, services, and teaching. we have been pioneers in the application and training of modern molecular genetic techniques and technologies to the study of archaeological, degraded and paleo-dna. we are seeking a highly motivated and organized laboratory technician in genetic testing to perform nucleic acid extraction, genetic testing, and laboratory maintenance. the analytical dna services technician provides support to the 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and analytical services in the paleo dna facility. the technician shall be experienced and have a sound understanding of dna analytical instrumentation, including thermal cycler, multiplex pcr, real-time pcr; genetic analyzers including abi 3130xl genetic analyzer and abi 7000 real time pcr equipment; electrophoresis detection systems such as gel and capillary electrophoresis and is responsible for the set-up and preparation of all instruments as well as general maintenance and troubleshooting. the technician preps and runs samples in the paleo dna facility and is back-up support when the technical laboratory manager is away
responsibilites
probation period: during the probational period (3 months), the analyst under the supervision of the technical laboratory manager shall successfully complete our pdna 7003 course, analyze a range of samples routinely encountered in forensic casework prior to independent work. additionally, the analyst shall successfully complete a proficiency competency test before beginning independent dna analysis.
• carry our laboratory protocols related to:
i. dna extraction from environmental samples including degraded materials
ii. dna extraction from biological samples
iii. human and non-human dna id
iv. real-time pcr v. dna fragment analysis
vi. dna quantification.
• maintain detailed and accurate daily records.
• organize supplies and prepare stock solutions.
• perform quality testing of reagent shipments and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• facilitate in sop review, update and revision.
• other duties as assigned.
qualifications
the technician shall have a b.sc or m.sc degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, forensic science, or a related discipline is required in a biology and shall have successfully completed course work (graduate or undergraduate level) covering the following subject areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology; and course work and/or training in statistics as it applies to forensic dna analysis. minimum experience requirements: the analyst shall have two (2) years general dna analysis experience. attention to detail and ability to perform assay in a reliable and reproducible manner
