the essential skills for leadership and self-management is comprised of four 2-hour modules. each will unpack a key competency of leadership, self-management, and overall soft-skill development, giving special focus to workplace and organizational contexts. upon completion, participants will walk away with practical tools and strategies for greater communication, emotional intelligence and regulation, influence, adaptability, self-awareness, time management and more. this course will utilize a blend of teaching methods including visual aids, live coaching, interactive exercises, discussions, and assessments. all participants will also get access to an everything disc workplace report to help facilitate the learning process. overall participants can expect to increase their leadership, management skills, employability, and career growth potential.

module 1: communication

learners will be able to:

  1. identify and understand their unique personality style.
  2. quickly adapt their communication to fit the style of others.
  3. apply active listening tools for greater influence and improved workplace relationships.
  4. effectively initiate a difficult or conflicting conversation.

module 2: resiliency

learners will be able to:

  1. understand and manage the unique stress triggers of their personality.
  2. apply tools and strategies for mitigating stress, and improving mental and physical health.
  3. reconceptualize difficult circumstances and intrusive thoughts to make more productive decisions.
  4. plan and execute strategies for improving resiliency at an organizational level.

module 3: productivity

learners will be able to:

  1. understand how their unique personality influences their work and productivity behaviours.
  2. effectively prioritize their work tasks for optimal productivity.
  3. plan and structure their day and week for improved efficiency.
  4. apply a variety of productivity tools.
  5. understand and leverage how the brain functions to improve cognitive performance.

module 4: goal setting

learners will be able to:

  1. understand and leverage their unique personality strengths when setting goals.
  2. apply strategies for improving internal motivation.
  3. harness their environment and habits for greater follow through on goals.
  4. apply the smart goal framework.
  5. assess their level of change readiness when pursuing a goal.

no required textbooks. a workbook is provided for all learners. we will have all learners complete a disc personality assessment before the course begins.

course withdrawals more than two weeks prior to the start of the course will receive a full refund less a $40 non-refundable administration fee. two weeks before the course begins, the registration fee is non-refundable.

non-attendance or not formally withdrawing will result in an incomplete on your non-credit transcript. questions about the withdrawal process can be forwarded to the community zone.
