ms. sue craig (chair) sue craig, m.sc, p. geo., originally from thunder bay, received her m.sc. in geology (1991) and b.ed. (2001) from 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 . she has over 25 years’ experience in developing social license for mining projects. she was involved in her first agreement with a first nation on a mining project in 1995. her experience includes work with publicly-listed mining companies, territorial and federal governments, first nations and industry associations. in 2006, ms. craig successfully led the environmental assessment process for novagold's multi-billion dollar galore creek project and played a key role in establishing the participation agreement with the tahltan nation. more recently, she was involved with the kemess underground project, kutcho and eskay creek project in bc as they entered the bc ea process. as well, sue has been advising companies on esg practices as well as advising a first nation as it negotiates an agreement with an industry company. she has received a number of provincial, territorial awards recognizing her contributions toward environmental stewardship and sustainable development and in 2017 was the canadian women in mining “trailblazer”. she has also served on the boards of yukon chamber of mines, yukon mineral advisory board, yukon energy, amebc, mabc and is a yukon women in mining champion. | |
dr. jim franklin phd frsc, pgeo jim franklin, originally from north bay, ontario, is focussed on unravelling the reasons for the exceptional mineral endowment of the canadian shield. his phd thesis examined mineral deposits in the proterozoic of the thunder bay area. he initiated his post phd research efforts at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 , where he was the first economic geology professor (1969-75). he then joined the geological survey of canada, continuing base metal and gold research throughout the shield. in 1981 he took a 10-year “excursion” to lead the gsc’s marine minerals program, discovering “black smoker” systems on the modern seafloor: from this combination of sea- and land-based work, he developed a robust set of guidelines that help steer modern exploration. in 1992 he became chief scientist for the geological survey of canada, responsible for steering the gsc’s entire program. since “retiring” from the gsc (1998) he advises about 70 exploration companies world-wide. jim is a board member of four companies (ur energy, nuinsco ltd., anconia and aura silver), and has been involved in the development of base metal, chrome and uranium resources in the ring of fire, sturgeon lake, wyoming and mexico. he also serves as a senior advisor to several others, including millbrook minerals ltd. and the macdonald red pine group he served as member of management boards for numerous public-service related organizations he has received gac’s logan and duncan r derry medals, cim’s selwyn blaylock, a.o. dufresne, distinguished lecturer and julian boldy memorial awards and seg’s thayer lindsley and distinguished lecturer awards and its penrose gold medal. he is a fellow of the royal society of canada, a fellow of 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 , an adjunct professor at several ontario universities, and a past president of both the geological association of canada and the society of economic geologists. he has published over 200 papers and book chapters, and innumerable abstracts. his passion is his continuing work towards the discovery of more new mines throughout the world, with a focus on base metal, silver and gold-rich volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits. | |
mr. glenn nolan, pgeo a member of the missanabie cree first nation, glenn is a former chief, past president of the prospectors and developers association of canada and a past tourism business owner. glenn serves on numerous not for profit boards with local, national and international focus. glenn is also a board member of a junior diamond exploration company with properties in canada and africa. presently glenn is vice president, government affairs noront resources that is developing a nickel and copper deposit in ontario’s ring of fire. he has been involved in the mining sector for more than four decades. | |
dr. john mason john is a registered professional geoscientist in the province of ontario and holds an honour’s bachelor of science degree in geology from 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 . in mid 2011, john joined the thunder bay community economic development commission as project manager, mining services, with a mandate to grow the exploration and mining sector in thunder bay and region as well to more fully to capitalize on the service and supply businesses that feed into the mineral sector. john retired from the cedc in february 2022 but remains active in the mining industry. on june 1st , 2013. john mason was awarded an honourary doctorate in science from 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 . in april of 2014 john received a lifetime achievement award from the northwestern ontario prospectors association. | |
mr. gordon maxwell gordon graduated from university of manitoba with bsc. hon. geology in 1982 then worked for noranda exploration in a variety of roles from geologist to exploration manager from 1982 to 2006. during that time he was based in winnipeg, thunder bay, prince george, toronto, southeast pacific, ireland, spain, turkey and montreal. from 2006 to 2013 gord was based in timmins as xstrata-north america exploration manager. gord then worked with glencore as exploration/business development manager in toronto before retiring in 2020. in 2016 gordon was the recipient of the ame bc david barr award which is presented to those who have demonstrated leadership and innovation excellence in exploration safety and in 2019 he was honoured with the skookum jim award from the pdac which is presented to someone who has demonstrated exceptional achievement and/or service in a canadian indigenous-run service business for the canadian mining industry or a canadian indigenous exploration or mining company, or has made a significant individual contribution to the mining industry. | |
dr. scott jobin-bevans dr. jobin-bevans has almost 30 years in the mineral exploration business and more than 17 years of direct experience with public and private companies as an officer, director and technical advisor and has been involved with taking several private companies public. scott is a registered geoscientist with the association of professional geoscientists of ontario (apgo), an adjunct professor in the department of geology, 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 and a certified project management professional (pmp). he has a wide range of exploration experience in many commodities with expertise in magmatic sulphides (ni-cu-co) and pge (pt-pd) mineralization, gold, silver, copper, vanadium, lct pegmatites, and base metals. dr. jobin-bevans has an extensive international industry and government network, served as president (2010-2012) and a director (2002-2010) of the prospectors and developers association of canada (pdac), and in 2013, was awarded the queen elizabeth diamond jubilee medal in recognition of his significant contribution and achievements as a volunteer in the canadian minerals industry. | |
