for more than 50 years, the iisd-experimental lakes area in northwestern ontario has studied whole lakes and their watersheds to understand how human populations affect our freshwaters. this globally unique organization continues to tackle important issues like habitat restoration, plastics, oil spills, climate change and pharmaceuticals all while focusing on non-invasive monitoring techniques.
