"fiber lasers: applications for the detection of trace gases and chemicals"

abstract:
the presentation will cover the recent progress in the following areas in the photonics research group at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 – (i) high-power mid-ir laser based on nanotechnology – for spectroscopic applications, (ii) photonic device to detect trace gases – as a medical diagnostic tool, and (iii) photonics device for the detection of proteins – as a diagnostic tool, and (iv) research opportunities at ph.d. and m.sc. levels.

dr. gautam das earned two ph.d. degrees, one in theoretical research in fiber optics at the university of calcutta, india, and the other in experimental research in fiber lasers at the university of waterloo, canada. he was awarded individual nserc-dgs in 2005, 2010, and 2017 and an nserc rti in 2005. he received nserc-eg, nserc crd grants, oce vip ii grants, and mitacs accelerate grants in 2011, 2012, 2017, and 2021 respectively, to develop a trace gas detection system with nutrien (agrium inc.) as an industrial partner. in 2020, he received an nserc alliance (covid-19) grant with wilson analytical as an industrial partner to develop a nanoprobe for detecting the sars-cov-2 spike protein. with the assistance of the above research grants, he has created a vibrant, ambitious research facility in photonics at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 . further, he received a cfi leaders opportunity fund grant in 2012 to establish a facility for nanophotonics research at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 . three ph.d. 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 are performing their research work under his supervision.

a panel discussion focusing on indigenous economic development and the role that businesses and business schools can play in advancing reconciliation.

denise baxter, vice-provost, indigenous initiatives at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜
denise has served as vice provost, indigenous initiatives since 2017 and teaches in the department of indigenous learning and department of continuing education. she is completing her phd in equity and indigenous education at york university. in an education career spanning almost 30 years, she has built capacity and partnerships with multiple community stakeholders through education conferences, workshop presentations, and traditional pedagogy. she is an active board member with yes employment, children’s centre thunder bay, the thunder bay police services governance committee, keewatin patricia dsb and a provincial edi advisory committee. a marten falls first nation member, she maintains that preserving and practicing cultural traditions and ceremony keeps her connected to the community, indigenous cultures, traditions, and protocols. she works to establish networks, strengthen relationships with indigenous communities and governments, and build capacity between indigenous, public, and private partners which have supported multiple initiatives that advance educational outcomes for indigenous 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 .

prior to his appointment as dean in 2019, david was a faculty member teaching human resources and organizational behaviour since 2008. david has undergraduate degrees in psychology and gerontology, a master of social work, an mba in health services management, and a ph.d. in business administration. his research areas are in organizational behaviour and interpersonal relationships at work and he has published papers in the journal of applied psychology, leadership quarterly, the journal of business and psychology, the journal of knowledge management.

阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 's chair in finnish studies, dr. oula seitsonen, will be presenting his on-going research at the thunder bay museum. this will be an in-person event that is also free to view online. the lecture will be broadcast live via zoom for those who cannot attend in-person and recorded and posted to the museum's youtube at a later date.
