thomas cosbey and katie stevens, violins
katie stevens holds a performance diploma from the mount royal conservatory as well as a bachelor of music from the glenn gould school of the royal conservatory of music. she graduated in 2009 with her mmus from the university of ottawa. her teachers have included: william van der sloot, lorand fenyves, erica raum and david stewart. after her graduation, she worked as a freelance musician and teacher in ottawa, ontario where she was a member of the ottawa symphony orchestra. she was also string coach for the ottawa junior youth orchestra from 2009 to 2011.
she has attended summer programs such as the banff centre for the arts, the orford arts centre as well as domaine forget and has worked with violinists such as camilla wicks, paul cantor and william preucil. katie joined the thunder bay symphony orchestra in 2011.
thomas cosbey has been concertmaster of the thunder bay symphony orchestra since 2007. mr. cosbey began his career in regina as a member of the regina symphony orchestra and later served as principal second violin of sinfonia toronto. he has been featured as soloist with the regina symphony orchestra, the saskatoon symphony orchestra, and sinfonia toronto, and has collaborated in concert with gwen hoebig, paul katz, marc durand, steve dann, and others. he has been broadcast often on cbc radio, most recently with bassoonist stéphane lévesque.
prize-winner at the national music festival, mr. cosbey has also claimed top prizes at numerous other competitions. mr. cosbey holds a performance diploma from the glenn gould school, where he studied with erika raum; he has also worked with pinchas zukerman, lorand fenyves and mark fewer.
